Executive Management
Jack A. Hockema has served as President and Chief Executive Officer since October 2001 and as Chairman of the Board of Directors since July 2006. Previously, Mr. Hockema served as Executive Vice President of Kaiser Aluminum and President of Kaiser Fabricated Products. In this capacity, he was responsible for sales and manufacturing operations for the company’s Engineered Products business unit and the Flat-Rolled Products business unit. He had also previously served as Vice President and President of the company’s Engineered Products business unit. Prior to joining Kaiser in 1995, he was the principal in a metals industry management consulting and investment advisory firm and had held senior executive positions with Bohn Extruded Products, a division of Gulf+Western, and American Brass Specialty Products. In addition, he had previously been employed by Kaiser (from 1977 to 1982) in production/operations management positions at several company locations. He holds a Master of Science degree in Industrial Management and a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering, both from Purdue University.
John Barneson is Senior Vice President of Corporate Development. He joined Kaiser in 1975 as an industrial engineer and subsequently held a number of increasingly responsible staff and operations management positions at a variety of Kaiser locations. He was named a Vice President in 1996. He holds a Master of Science degree and a Bachelor of Science degree in Industrial Engineering from Oregon State University.
John M. Donnan is Senior Vice President, General Counsel and Secretary. He joined the company in 1993 as Associate Corporate Counsel and was named Deputy General Counsel in 2000. Before joining Kaiser, Donnan was an associate in the Corporate/Securities section of the Houston, Texas, office of Chamberlain Hrdlicka. He holds a Juris Doctorate degree from the University of Arkansas School of Law and a Bachelor of Business Administration degree in finance and accounting from Texas Tech University. He is a member of the Texas and California bars.
James E. McAuliffe is Senior Vice President. He joined the company in 1998 as Vice President of Human Resources for the company’s fabricating business and was named to his current position in 2002. He has more than 25 years of experience in leadership roles in human resources at the corporate and divisional levels of companies such as Rexam Inc., Allied Signal, and J.P. Industries. He holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Labor Relations and Industrial Psychology from Michigan State University and attended graduate school at Central Michigan University.
Daniel J. Rinkenberger is Senior Vice President, Chief Financial Officer and Treasurer. He joined the organization in 1991, became Assistant Treasurer in 1995, and served as Vice President and Treasurer from 2005 to 2008. Between 1997 and 2002, he served in the fabricated products business unit in various financial and business planning functions. From 2002 to 2005, he served as the company’s Vice President of Economic Analysis and Planning. Before joining Kaiser, he held a series of progressively responsible positions in the Treasury Department at Pennzoil Corporation. He holds a Master of Business Administration degree in Finance from the University of Chicago and a Bachelor of Education degree from Illinois State University. He is a Chartered Financial Analyst.
Lynton J. Rowsell is Vice President and Chief Accounting Officer. He joined the company in 2006 as director of external reporting and assumed the Chief Accounting Officer position in 2007. Prior to joining Kaiser Aluminum, he was employed by GeoLogistics, a freight forwarding company with revenues of approximately $2 billion. From 1999 to 2006, he held several positions of increasing responsibility, most recently as a Senior Manager at Ernst & Young in Reading, England, San Jose and Irvine, Calif. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in mathematics, operations research, statistics and economics from the University of Warwick (UK) and is a Chartered Accountant in the UK.
