Kaiser Aluminum offers plate, sheet and coil products tailored for the general engineering market. These products can be created from the following alloy selection:
6061
Very good corrosion resistance and finishability plus excellent weldablity and a strength level similar to mild steel, this is a popular general-purpose alloy. Machinability is good and, in the annealed state, its workability carries a high rating, staying in the “good” level if heat-treated without aging. Typical end uses are general tool and jig plate, aircraft landing mats, storage tanks and highway signs.
Kaiser Aluminum’s Trentwood, Washington facility is one of the most advanced flat-rolled mills in the world. We are currently adding a state-of-the-art thick plate stretcher, horizontal heat treat furnaces, and a tankless ultrasonic inspection system for plate. The new equipment will enable Kaiser Aluminum to supply heavy gauge heat treat stretched plate in thicknesses of up to 8-10 inches to the general engineering markets worldwide.
